OHIP "red and white" healthcards EOL (End of Life)

Writer's picture: MDMax TeamMDMax Team

Finally after years and years of trying to eliminate the "red and white" OHIP cards from circulation, the Ontario Ministry of Health has set a hard stop date of July 1, 2020. As of July 1, 2020, the red and white health cards will no longer be accepted for OHIP services. This is great news as the red and white cards make it nearly impossible to validate the patient's identity, which has lead to widespread fraudulent medical claims in Ontario.

More information about this change can be found under INFOBullitin #4738.

Health Care Providers are encouraged to download waiting room posters at: INFOBullitin #4738 in order to inform patients about the change.
